The Kaohsiung Pride Parade (hereinafter referred to as Kaohsiung Pride) has been held in Kaohsiung since 2010. It is a signature public action for LGBTQ+ and gender equality in southern Taiwan, connecting diverse gender communities, allies, and public issues to advance discussions on gender equality and human rights. The Kaohsiung Pride Parade League Association is the current organizing body of the event. Anchored locally, the association continuously builds movement momentum and community connections while shaping a distinct southern gender culture and public space. Each year, Kaohsiung Pride centers its parade and advocacy campaigns on a different topic. Beyond marriage equality, everyday life presents ongoing challenges—such as gender-friendly restrooms and public spaces, as well as verbal abuse targeted at gender expression and identity across schools, workplaces, and the internet. Therefore, we continuously propose and discuss policy initiatives with the city government and city councilors, while selecting different districts within Kaohsiung to host the parade each year. Our core belief is striving to build a more friendly, inclusive, and livable city for Kaohsiung’s rainbow citizens! The theme for this year's parade, "tâng-tsê lóo-la̍t" - Leave No One Behind, aims to highlight the diversity of the workforce. We invite gender minorities and allies from all walks of life to take to the streets, helping the public recognize the possibilities for equality across different workplace environments.
